Although Google+ launched in the summer of 2011, there are a lot of people who hesitate signing up for one more social network. There are some businesses that are not even aware that they can use it to promote their products and services, communicate with current clients, and generate solid leads that could turn into new clients. While the site offers plenty of features that are beneficial to businesses, one of the most dynamic is Google+ Hangouts.
In addition to letting you get the profile for your business out there to other internet users, Google+ Hangouts allows you to stream live broadcasts. Whether it is from your company’s website, YouTube channel, or even from their own Google+ profile page, it takes only a few clicks and there’s no cost involved. Some people hear this and think that must mean that Google is complicated to use. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Google is just another form of social networking, but unlike the others it has more business-friendly features.
On my internet radio program, the Affiliate Buzz (on WebmasterRadio.FM), I interviewed Expand2Web founder Don Campbell. He explained, “If I’m on Google+ and I’m a chiropractor or something, when my patients +1 me their friends are going to see that. Or if I say, hey, I was just over here at so-and-so chiropractic and I share that update, then everyone who I share that with is going to see that update. So it’s just another mode of sharing but it’s also affecting search results.” That’s because Google indexes every +1, just as it would when you like something on Facebook.
Google+ Hangouts are a great way to engage with your clients, employees, and fellow associates who work elsewhere in the business community. It can help you improve communications with both groups on so many different levels. If you’ve never used Google+ Hangouts and are still wondering how they can help your business, here are some suggestions.
Google+ Hangouts aren’t the only feature of the social network that is useful for businesses, but it is certainly one of the more business-friendly ones. An added plus is that you can add your company’s events to the Google Live Calendar. That’s especially helpful for sharing information about a new product or service with clients, because it allows them to ask questions in real time and increases your credibility because now you’re not just a name on an email or website.
